Basically you are paying for something that you have no knowledge of.  Never send an advance payment.  It is totally a scam if they ask for any kind of upfront payment.

If the company says that you need to refer other people and asked them to give also an upfront payment, no doubt, this is a scam.  All their promises of letting you make thousands, actually boils down to you finding someone else to do the same work.

In order to protect yourself from this kind of scam, all you really need to do is to have knowledge of the work.  Envelope stuffing work from home seems too good to be true.  There are testimonials from people who claim to make thousands of money from this work, and these can be quite convincing and enticing at the same time.  However, there are still lots of envelope stuffing scams.  Just take time and effort to know better the company where you will be working.  There is really no easy way to get rich, unless you are very lucky.
